Earth Mama Angel Baby® Approved For New Whole Foods Market Premium Body Care™ Standard

Wholefoodsstandard Clackamas, OR., March 31, 2008 /Natural Newswire/ -- Earth Mama Angel Baby® is proud to receive Whole Foods Market’s new Premium Body Care™ Standard seal of approval. The Premium Body Care Standard is Whole Foods Market’s way of defining a higher standard for body care products, and helps its customers by defining which body care products are the most natural, and have the highest quality ingredients. Naturally, Earth Mama Angel Baby body care products made the short list! With all the recent hidden ingredient scares, like phthalates and 1,4-Dioxane, Earth Mama Angel Baby has been able to assure worried mamas that our products do not contain, have never contained, and will not ever contain any ingredients that are not 100% safe for mamas and their precious angel babies. But since there is no federal regulation on personal care products, any brand can claim their products are natural, even when that isn’t the case. The new Premium Body Care™ Standard seal on Earth Mama Angel Baby and other products at Whole Foods Markets is just another way to be sure that you are getting the purest products, and that you’re getting what you expected to get, when purchasing natural and organic products for your family.

Key highlights of the new Premium Body Care standard include:

  • Preservatives - While few are truly benign, some are necessary in body care products, especially water-based products. The Premium Body Care Standard does not allow parabens and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives like diazolidinyl urea and DMDM hydantoin. Though the standard allows milder preservatives like potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate that are less likely to cause allergies or sensitivities, Earth Mama Angel Baby prefers to preserve our products with an effective and natural organic alcohol extract of skin healing and moisturizing herbs.

  • Surfactants - Used for cleaning, degreasing, emulsifying, conditioning and creating foam, these ingredients often irritate the skin and can remove essential fatty acids. The Premium Body Care standard allows the gentlest types available, including decyl polyglucose and sodium stearoyl lactylate. Earth Mama Angel Baby products do not contain surfactants.

  • Fragrance - Only natural essential oils and components of natural essential oils are allowed as fragrances.

  • Sunscreen - Only physical sunscreen, such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as better alternatives to those containing chemical sunscreens, such as oxybenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate.

All Earth Mama Angel Baby products meet or exceed these standards, and we are working for stricter industry standards and more consumer education every day. As a pioneer in truly safe and effective personal care products, Earth Mama Angel Baby always lists all ingredients on our product labels and on our web site. Our newsletters are full of consumer protection information like how to read labels, details about chemicals and additives and why we don’t use them, and facts about the healing herbs we use, and why. As always, if Mama wouldn’t use it on her own angel babies, she won’t sell it. That’s Mama’s Promise™.
